Dear Family & Friends,
Here is the invitation for the Dining to Donate day at Applebees for the Jacob Neil Boger Foundation. For those of you who don't know about us, we lost our son Baby Jake to SIDS on February 23, 2006. In honor of his memory we have started a foundation to support research into diagnosis, treatment and cures for pediatric illnesses.
This past year we have donated to SIDS research, children's neuroblastoma research, and a drug trial for progeria (premature aging). In addition, our foundation also supports pediatric hospitals where help is needed and we have set up an annual scholarship to a qualified individual who is studying pediatric healthcare. Recently, we joined forces with many local businesses to support the University of Central Florida's upcoming medical school by offering a student a $40,000 scholarship for all four years ($10,000 each year).
We are a non-profit organization with minimal overhead costs (attorney and accounting fees). We run this foundation out of our house and all the employees are volunteers so over 97% of the funds raised goes towards helping the children. Our goal is to help as many children as possible so that no parent or family experiences the pain and emptiness of losing a child. We hope that many of you can come out to Applebees on Sunday, May 18, 2008 to support our children.
